a little about me

Hi there, I'm Jessica Wood - the "j-wood" in j-wood photography (original, eh?).

I'm a daughter, sister, pianist, slight Grammar Nazi, horrible speller, animal lover, crossword puzzle enthusiast, Info-mercial junkie, great Robot-er, and self-proclaimed "crazy-old-cat-lady-in-training".

I don't have some story where I just knew I was a photographer while in the womb, born with a camera in hand. I just picked it up in high school and have been shooting ever since. I started with plants, animals, random stuff, and eventually moved on to people. So, technically I can say my job is to "shoot people" and I can't get arrested for it. Hah - I'm a riot, I know.

After posting photos online, I had countless (maybe like 5 total) demands/requests to start my own business and site. And here I am. I started j-wood photography in 2009 and it has been an awesome blessing.

I love getting to know my clients and love it even more when clients turn into friends.

This kid. LOVE him. He’s such a poser (litereally) and made some of the greatest faces.

His parents, cousin, and I went downtown on a hot, hot, hot Friday evening. Everyone was sweaty by the time we were through. But that doesn’t matter now because the photos are awesome and this kid is so stinkin’ cute. I just want to steal him (and then give him back if he has a poopie diaper and/or starts crying).
